Simulation and modelling of complex material systems
At the FMF, the 3D structures of complex functional systems are elucidated and modelled in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials (IWM) using methods of quantum chemistry. With the help of these methods, specifc materials such as graphene-based nanomaterials can be developed.
Current research topics are:
- 3D structure elucidation (TEM, EDX, SEM, AFM, tomography)
- Multi-scale modelling
- Simulation of 3D printing processes
- Materials simulation
